SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!

In Night Shyamalan's new movie "The Happening" the trees release neurological toxins into the air to defend themselves from mankind. I'm sure that M. Night believes that man is destroying the planent by driving SUVs. But I think he should go back to 7th grade science class and learn about a little something called Photosynthesis.
All the activity mankind does like driving cars, heating their homes, cooking food and oh yeah BREATHING releases Carbon Dioxide into the Atmosphere, which of course TREES NEED TO SURVIVE! It's their oxygen without it they can't grow. It's called SYMBIOSIS.
If anything the trees should attack the Greeny Weenies because they want to to cut down on CO2 emissions, the trees' very lifeblood. And what about the vegetarians? Shouldn't the plants go after the vegetarians? Meat eaters eat the things that eat the plants, plants should appreciate the meat eaters. I think "M" has it completely backwards.

In 2003 scientists set out to prove the effect of greenhouse gasses on trees. They planted trees in New York City and trees way out in the woods. To their surprise, the trees planted in the city grew twice as rapidly as the ones in the country.
link to article.
“In the country, the trees were about up to my waist. In the city, they were almost over my head — it's really dramatic,” said Jillian W. Gregg, the study's lead author.
“No matter what soil I grew them in they always grew twice as large in New York City,” said Gregg, who said she was initially perplexed by the unexpected results.
In another study from CO2Science.org they discovered that increased CO2 actually help trees grow in dry and treeless grasslands.
Besides, if you're a plant wouldn't you appreciate a little Global Warming? Let's think, shorter winters, longer growning seasons. What is it about permafrost that everyone finds so appealing anyway?

Elmer,
Right on the money! More people would understand the reality of the benefits of any global warming (no matter what causes it) if they were forced to plant a garden every year. Burn more coal! Burn more oil! Make more CO2! Warmer is better!!! Mike
